gestenco_alignerpliersGestenco International AB, Gothenburg, Sweden, has released four new pliers designed to perform aligner adjustments. The A-line Aligner Instruments are made from Swedish steel.

The Gap Maker pliers can be used to make half circle 6 mm cutouts on clear aligners around bonded buttons/hooks used for elastics. The pliers can also be used to remove excessive plastic to prevent aligner impingement of tissue.

The Droplet pliers are intended for making cuts at the gingival edge on the aligner where elastic hooks are required. They create space for the elastics to stay in place when the aligner is positioned.

The Parallel Marker pliers are designed to make a horizontal indent in the plastics for individual root torque or increasing retention of aligners. This is done by placing the indent under a bonded attachment or on the tooth’s undercut.

Meanwhile, the Perpendicular Marker pliers can be used to make a vertical impression in the aligner and to create overcorrection of rotation with an indent at the mesial/distal line, facial, or lingual of a specific tooth.
