DB Orthodontics, San Diego, Calif, has launched a new version of its IX953 Ixion Cinch Back Instrument. The IX953 Ixion Cinch Back bends nickel titanium wires up to 90° distally to the buccal tube.

The instrument features serrated tips designed to grip the wire securely to prevent it from slipping while bending. In addition, the tips on the IX953 Ixion Cinch Back are contoured to match the curvature of the tooth surface. According to the company, this enables the orthodontist to bend the wire even closer behind the buccal tube for improved patient comfort.

The contoured tips have already been incorporated into the company’s IX954 Ixion Cinch Back (large) which was released earlier this year. The IX954 is designed to be used with wires ranging from .016” up to .021” x .025”.
