Danville Engineering and Materials introduces Dam It, a posterior dam and periphery extension membrane. The membrane is self-adhesive, and incorporates into the impression material. The membrane is also marked for alignment with the bottom of the tray. After Dam It is placed, three quarter-inch slits are cut to allow it to conform to the patient.

According to the company, Dam It captures the second and third molars; stops impression material from running down the patient’s throat, thereby preventing gagging; allows tray side removal with flexible extension to accommodate exostoses or lingual tori; and works with all viscosities of impression material.
