water-pik-sonic-fusion-recallWater Pik Inc, Fort Collins, Colo, is voluntarily recalling its Sonic-Fusion® flossing toothbrush because the charging base may overheat with localized melting and sparking, possibly causing fire, shock, or burns.

The company has received consumer reports of the product malfunctioning in the United States.

The recall is applicable only to Sonic-Fusion products. All other Waterpik® brand flossers and toothbrushes are not affected.

The following Sonic-Fusion flossing toothbrush models have been recalled: SF-01—Serial/Lot Numbers SF01 17 06 01 through SF01 18 06 28; and SF-02—Serial/Lot Numbers SF02 17 06 01 through SF02 18 06 28.

Some 3,800 units are affected by the recall.

The indicated lots were distributed between June 2017 and June 2018 in all U.S. states and Canada and restricted to professional educators, key opinion leaders, trade show customers, and limited direct online sales, according to the company.

Consumers who have the affected units are instructed to stop using them, immediately unplug the unit, and return them to Water Pik.
