OrthoAccel_AcceleDent-OptimaOrthoAccel Technologies Inc, Houston, announced that it has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Henry Schein Orthodontics, Carlsbad, Calif, to distribute AcceleDent® Optima—OrthoAccel’s third generation vibratory orthodontic device. According to a press release, OrthoAccel will retain its direct sales force and the hybrid distribution model is expected to expand the company’s market leadership.

“By working with Henry Schein Orthodontics, a leading global orthodontic company, OrthoAccel is expanding its market reach exponentially. This new distribution resource will complement OrthoAccel’s national sales team, who will continue to serve our existing customers and introduce new ones to the benefits of accelerated technology,” said David Josza, OrthoAccel’s president and CEO. “Demand for our technology is growing as leading orthodontists report improved predictability and tracking when integrating AcceleDent into their aligner therapy. By expanding our distribution resources, we can serve more practices.”

The distribution arrangement will focus on AcceleDent Optima, which received FDA clearance in May 2017.

Optima uses Bluetooth® technology and a cloud-based practice management system that enables orthodontists and clinical teams to connect with patients for more proactive case management. The Optima is small, lightweight, and waterproof, and connects patients and practices through usage monitoring, direct messaging, and virtual awards via an app or web portal.

Patients use the handheld, prescription-only device for 20 minutes daily. According to OrthoAccel Technologies, the gentle vibrations from the device mouthpiece are clinically shown to speed up tooth movement by as much as 50% while reducing discomfort by up to 71% during orthodontic treatment with clear aligners or braces.

“We are proud to begin distributing AcceleDent Optima because it is a leading technology in the field of accelerated orthodontics, which complements our progressive practice solution offerings, like Sagittal First,” said Ted Dreifuss, general manager of Henry Schein Orthodontics. “Several clinical studies and case reports show that orthodontists are experiencing exciting clinical benefits with AcceleDent and that is outstanding.”
