Dentsply Sirona, Salzburg, Austria, announced that Dr Alexander  Völcker has assumed the role of group vice president of CAD/CAM. Previously, Völcker served as corporate vice president of business development, with responsibility for acquisition projects for the company.

Völcker replaces Dr Frank Thiel, who will continue to lead research and development of the CAD/CAM business unit.

Völcker earned his PhD in physical chemistry in Frankfurt, Germany, and began his career at Dentsply Sirona in 1990, in the prosthetics business unit. While there, he worked in research and development, as well as in marketing and new business development. He later moved to moved to VDW in Munich, Germany, first as vice president of research and development and later as vice president and general manager.

In 2006, Völcker became vice president and general manager at DeguDent in Hanau, Germany. After 2010, he managed acquisition projects as corporate vice president of business development.
