SleepArchiTx, Newport Beach, Calif, an end-to-end dental sleep program, announced that Steve Carstensen, DDS, FAGD, D.ABDSM, has joined the company’s advisory board. Carstensen, a well-known expert in dental sleep medicine, has been treating sleep apnea and snoring since 1998. He is co-founder of Premier Sleep, a private practice in Bellevue, Wash, where he focuses exclusively on dental sleep therapy. He also directs sleep education at the Pankey Institute, is a guest lecturer on dental sleep at Spear Education, and lectures at the University of the Pacific and Louisiana State University Dental Schools.

“With the [American Dental Association’s] adoption of a policy on dental treatment of sleep related breathing disorders, now it is more important than ever to have services that can help practitioners with dental sleep,” Carstensen said.

Carstensen is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and a diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. He completed UCLA’s Mini-Residency in Sleep, has held several leadership positions at the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), was chair of the 2010 American Dental Association (ADA) Annual Session, works closely with the ADA on current sleep initiatives, and is Editor-in-Chief of Dental Sleep Practice magazine.
