A new direct to consumer aligner company that provides remote treatment while under the care of a dental professional has entered the market. Clear Blue Smiles is the brainchild of Kevin Dillard, former general counsel of the American Association of Orthodontists, and William Crutchfield II, DDS, a practicing orthodontist.

The company will offer services nationwide through the use of remote treatment performed after having received complete diagnostics on each patient.

“Technology has advanced to the point where, with the proper diagnostics, we can provide excellent treatment to patients remotely—giving them the best smile at an affordable price,” said Crutchfield. “With the Clear Blue Smiles model, parents don’t need to take time off work or take their kids out of school. They don’t have to rearrange their schedules or alter their lifestyle to receive quality orthodontic care.”

The company estimates that their patients, comprised of both teenagers and adults, will save over 25 hours and an average of $2,000 on the treatment—all while having the comfort of knowing that the pre-treatment diagnostics are done by experts.

The company also has a commitment to positively impacting the environment.

“Plastic is fantastic for moving teeth, but terrible for the environment,” said Dillard. “Not only is the Clear Blue Smiles packaging environmentally friendly, we’re pledging social and environmental responsibility by helping remove 100 times the amount of plastic from the environment—especially oceans—than what we sell.”

To make this pledge a reality, Clear Blues Smiles is collaborating with Charleston-based Dorsal Bracelets, which sells bracelets and promises that for each one sold, a pound of plastic is removed from the environment. Clear Blue Smiles has also partnered with the Ocean Blue Project, an Oregon-based national nonprofit that cleans plastic from the nation’s beaches, oceans, streams and rivers. Clear Blue Smiles and the Ocean Blue Project will be co-sponsoring and co-branding beach cleanup days across the country.
