Each week, Smiles Change Lives (SCL), Kansas City, Mo, selects an orthodontic practice as its provider of the week. To be profiled, a practice must be an active member of the SCL orthodontic provider network.
During the week of August 24-30, SCL recognized Dr Derek Sanders, DMD of Orthodontics Only, Miami.
According to Sanders, Orthodontics Only accepts a minimum of five SCL participants for treatment each year. Working within the high-need area of his community, in and around Miami, Sanders and his team have screened more than 15 applicants this calendar year alone, accepting families who must drive more than an hour to his office.
SCL works with doctors across the country to promote oral health for children in need of orthodontic treatment, yet whose families cannot afford the full cost of braces. The organization helps these families secure treatment for their children by connecting them with orthodontic providers, such as Sanders, who are willing to donate their services to deserving patients.
