ADA-diversityThe American Dental Association (ADA) Institute for Diversity in Leadership is accepting applications for its 2013-2014 program. The institute is designed to provide education and leadership skills to dentists and orthodontists who are members of racial, ethnic, and/or gender groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in leadership roles within the profession and their communities.

Twelve applicants will be selected to attend three leadership training sessions conducted by faculty from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management at ADA Headquarters in Chicago. The sessions will be held September 23 to 24, 2013; December 16 to 17, 2013; and September 4 to 5, 2014. As part of their coursework, participants will be assigned to design and lead a project to serve a community. The goal of the institute is to build a lifetime network of supportive relationships among alumni as they move on to leadership roles.

In addition, students will be given the opportunity to network with ADA leaders, as well as leaders from the program’s corporate sponsors—Proctor & Gamble and Henry Schein Dental—and non-profit organizations, faculty from the Kellogg School of Management, program alumni, and ADA staff.

Eligibility and application information is available at here. Applications are being accepted until April 30, 2013, and applicants will be notified of their acceptance status by July 15, 2013.

The ADA, Procter & Gamble, and Henry Schein Dental fund all student expenses.
