JacquelynBode_AAOFThe Board of Directors of the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation (AAOF) has appointed Jacquelyn C. Bode, MA, CFRE, as its executive director, effective March 26, 2018.

The AAOF is the charitable arm of the American Association of Orthodontists, and provides support to orthodontic education programs and orthodontic research aimed at excellence in patient care.

“In addition to having an impressive history in fundraising and experience in management, Jackie is a person with the ability to engage the people she is talking to with enthusiasm and commitment,” David J. Angus, DMD, president of the AAOF Board, said in a press release issued by the AAOF. “I am confident she will use her energy to support the current Foundation goals and advance the Foundation in new directions going forward.”

“Since its founding, the AAO Foundation has had an immense impact on the specialty of orthodontics through sponsorship of critical research that advances the science of orthodontics, being innovative in support of orthodontic faculty, and having the foresight to preserve vast stores of historic images and data of people with untreated orthodontic problems now housed in the Craniofacial Growth Legacy Collection,” Bode said in the same press release. “That I have been chosen to be a part of this team is humbling. It is an honor to have this opportunity to work with the AAO Foundation.”

Most recently, Bode served as executive director and senior development manager for the Christian Hospital Foundation in St Louis, where she created an annual giving program that, over 4 years, saw a 539% increase in the fund balance. She founded a planned giving program, and secured the Christian Hospital Foundation’s first planned gift of $100,000 in 2017. She also led that foundation’s largest-ever capital campaign, raising $2 million to improve the cardiac cauterization lab. While at the Washington University School of Medicine, also in St Louis, Bode led outreach that resulted in significant gifts to its annual fund by graduates of several disciplines.

Since 1994, the AAOF has provided more than $12.3 million in funding, primarily in support to junior faculty. The AAOF is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation in the state of Missouri.
