In a recorded video message, AAO President Gary O. Inman, DMD, announced the cancelation as the country response to the COVID-19 pandemic

The AAO announced today the cancelation of the Annual Session in Atlanta. It comes amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that is sweeping the country.

In a recorded video message, AAO President Gary O. Inman, DMD, points out that the cancelation comes as the CDC recommends the curtailing of gatherings of 50 or more. As well as yesterday’s announcement from Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms placing a ban on city gatherings through the end of March.

“The coronavirus has disrupted all of our lives, our practices and our world,” said Inman. “Fortunately, the AAO is on solid financial ground and has the resources to weather the storm. Not all associations can say that and some may be forced to close their doors. Thankfully, the AAO is not one of them. Moving forward we will do our best to keep you informed and with the information you need to address this unprecedented challenge. Please stay safe and keep our patients safe.”
