3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark, will introduce its new bracket placement module at the AAO Annual Session in San Diego.

3Shape Bracket Placement is an add-on module to 3Shape Ortho Planner software and part of its indirect bonding platform. The module automates the movement of teeth to create an ideal setup for orthodontists and lab technicians, helping to eliminate time spent manually adjusting teeth in the digital workflow.

Users of the module can first choose the bracket library and wires they prefer. With a simple click, the software automatically adjusts the patient’s malocclusion to create the ideal setup. The user can then make any small adjustments to the setup they prefer, which the software will correspondingly change in the bracket placement. Doctors with preferred setups can save preferences, allowing them to always create that setup.

Utilizing the 3Shape Bracket Transfer module, also a module within the 3Shape indirect bonding solution, users can then create the transfer media to bond the physical brackets in the patient as well. The digital workflow begins with a 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scan or by scanning a physical impression with a 3Shape lab scanner.

3Shape also recently announced the integration of a number of original manufacturer’s bracket libraries, including an exclusive integration with American Orthodontics. Other library integrations include Dentaurum, Forestadent, Henry Schein Orthodontics, Ormco, and RMO.
