3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark, announced that its indirect bonding orthodontic application is now digitally integrated with bracket systems from Henry Schein® Orthodontics, Carlsbad, Calif. According to a press release from the company, this integration enables orthodontists and laboratories to virtually plan patient treatment, digitally place brackets, directly print transfer trays, and eliminate the need for a analog model and vacuum press.

The bracket systems available from Henry Schein Orthodontics include Carriere® SLX Self-Ligating Brackets, Maestro® Mini-Twin Brackets, and Neolucent® Plus™ Ceramic Bracket Systems, which can be accessed directly from within 3Shape’s orthodontic software.

Using 3Shape Indirect Bonding software, treatment planning and bracket placement of virtual libraries are made with a digital study model of the patient. Study models are created using a TRIOS intraoral scan, conventional impression scanner, and/or 3Shape dental lab scanner. After treatment planning, the bracket systems are placed in the patient using transfer trays, also designed with the 3Shape Indirect Bonding software and printed with a 3D printer.

According to 3Shape, more than 150 original bracket libraries and orthodontic solution providers are integrated with 3Shape orthodontic software.
