The ADA Foundation (ADAF) has elected Reneida E. Reyes, DDS, MPH, PC, a pediatric dentist from Brooklyn, NY, president of the Board of Directors during the ADAF Board meeting on September 16, 2014. She takes over from David Whiston, DDS, who completed his second 2-year term as ADAF president.

A member of the ADAF’s Board of Directors since September 2012, Reyes will serve a 2-year term leading the ADA Foundation in both its philanthropy programs and efforts related to the ADA Foundation Dr. Anthony Volpe Research Center.

Reyes is currently Section Chief – Pediatric Dentistry for New York Methodist Hospital, Columbia Presbyterian Network and maintains a private practice. She earned her dental degree from Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine in 1978 and her master’s degree in public health from Harvard University School of Public Health in 1981. She received her postgraduate training in pediatric dentistry through the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the Boston Children’s Hospital.

At the same meeting, the Board of Directors elected to the ADAF Executive Committee, from among the ADAF Board of Directors Members at Large, the following:

  • Vice President of Grants: Candy B. Ross, Director of Industry and Professional Relations, Dental Technologies, NA, KaVo Kerr Group;
  • Vice President of Scientific Research:  Ronald Bushick, DMD, PhD, MS; and
  • Vice President of Finance: Pamela Hemmen, Vice President Technology Services, Patterson Companies, Inc.

New ADA Foundation Board members include Edward J. Green, DMD, Albany, Ga; Linda K. Himmelberger, DMD, Devon, Pa; Teri-Ross Icyda, DMD, Stuart, Fla; Frank Maggio, DDS, Dundee, Ill; and Maritza Morell, DMD, MPH, MS, Andover, Mass.
