American Orthodontics, Sheboygan, Wis, has launched ifit, a new direct bond buccal tube, designed to improve patient comfort while maintaining functionality.
The low-profile tube features a near-horizontal hook on the mesial edge of the body and does not extend beyond the facial surface. A funneled entrance also provides easy access for wire insertion. As a result of dual mechanical retention pads that layer micro abraded 80-gauge mesh over an etched foil base, the ifit offers 36% improved bond strength over previous models, according to the company.
