A recent survey conducted by TheWealthyDentist.com has found that the average cost to consumers of Invisalign® braces when received from orthodontists decreased slightly during the past year. When general dentists were delivering Invisalign, however, the cost to patients increased slightly.

According to survey, average costs for Invisalign from general dentist patients rose about 4% from $4,622 in 2011 to $4,823 in 2012—an increase general dentists blame on higher lab fees for Invisalign trays. Meanwhile, average costs for orthodontic patients fell about 22% from $6,945 in 2011 to $5,411 in 2012.

Patients in eastern states such as New York and Florida reported paying twice as much as patients in western states like California and Colorado.
